This is what happens when Mommy is gone:

Let's hope that's chocolate

And here's Evie:

Gingerbread Houses and Christmas Stockings

We finally got stockings for everyone.  Something simple to complete the holiday decorations:

And I found the cutest gingerbread house kit at Michaels.  It's foam!  I thought Jack would enjoy it and it wouldn't be too messy, but he lost interest pretty quickly.  I, on the other hand, had a quite enjoyable experience.  I'm such a dork, but I don't care...........it was fun!

Jack made this gingerbread man at daycare, he loves it.

Here's another one.....

Sorry I couldn't help myself, these are just too funny!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree......How painful are your branches!

We finally put up our Christmas Tree!  It was a 4 day process.  Saturday, we got our tree from Gore's, a family owned business in our neighborhood.  We looked, unsuccessfully, for colored lights at Lowe's and Target (they didn't have ANY lights).  We were going to visit our parents on Sunday, so we got Christmas lights from Grandma.  Thank goodness she buys in bulk!  Monday, I put the lights on the tree, then decided I was exhausted and that was all that was getting done.  And yesterday (Tuesday), I put the tree skirt, ornaments, and ribbons together.  Ta Da!

Okay, so this was year I finally got a blue spruce!  Yeah!  But wait a minute.......I had no idea how spiky this tree was!  These needles could probably be used to sew a pair of jeans together.  I promise I will never get this tree again.......looks pretty, but not worth the pain!  I keep vacuuming because I'm worried one of the kids are going to get a pine needle in their hand or foot. Ow!  Here's some more pictures for your viewing pleasure:

The last one is pretty cute, but here's where it gets ugly:

Time to put away the camera!  But one last shot of our nativity scene:

And the Funniest Mom Award goes to.......

I think I found funniest Mom alive!  Through my random blog stalking, I came across this Mom's parenting poetry post and I almost peed my pants reading it!  This Mom has a true talent.  I'm not sure which poem is my favorite, but this one is pretty hilarious:

I can hardly believe
how much noise can come from
such a small creature.
I must hide you away for the good of mankind
lest the military discover
your powers.

Here is her website for more hilarious daytime reading:

My First Post!

I am always looking for new crafty projects becuase I really don't have enough to do....wink, wink!  Well the latest project was an Advent Calendar of sorts just in time for the Christmas season. I got the idea from a website called Kids Craft Weekly.  Here's the link: Kids Craft Weekly Newsletter Because my kids are too young to get the idea, we just put candy in the cups.  We'll try more of a task oriented calendar next year.  Jack and Evie were very helpful (see pictures!).  I'm quite proud of how they turned out!  I hope they store well for next year because I look forward to starting new traditions in our family.

I hung them in our dining room with wooden bead garland.

Happy as a clam as usual!

I used metallic origami paper and puffy paint for the numbers.

Jack thinks he's helping by eating as many pieces of chocolate as possible!
